Berkshire Theatre 2015 season schedule

Berkshire Theatre Festival at Colonial Theatre Pittsfield MABerkshire Theatre Group’s 2015 summer season, presented at the Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield and Fitzpatrick Main Stage in Stockbridge, features a variety of audience favorites and includes another in the organization’s series of community productions, Mary Poppins, which will have one hundred Berkshire youngsters in the cast. The schedule runs from July 1 through August 23, 2015.

Berkshire Theatre, Fitzpatrick Main Stage – Deathtrap

Deathtrap, known as the longest-running comedy thriller on Broadway, is a sidesplitting romp of a play within a play that tells the tale of defeated playwright, Sidney Bruhl, who would do almost anything to write a hit Broadway play. Former student, Clifford Anderson, tells Sidney that he’s written a suspense play with a seamless plot that’s sure to be Broadway-bound. Jaw-dropping hilarity ensues as the zany characters weave a web of mystery in two acts.

This fetching and farcical love story includes notable show tunes, Long Before I Knew You, Just in Time, and The Party’s Over.

Terrence McNally’s play Frankie And Johnny In the Clair de Lune is about finding love in the modern world. Frankie’s poor history with men leaves her hesitant to commit, but as the night progresses, she lets her guard down and an unlikely romance begins to blossom. Directed by Berkshires resident movie star Karen Allen.

Shakespeare & Company 2015 summer seasonThe schedule for Shakespeare & Company’s 2015 summer season includes three Shakespeare plays, Henry V, The Comedy of Errors and Hamlet, plus the Regional Premiere of Red Velvet by Lolita Chakrabarti, and the World Premiere of Jane Anderson’s Mother of the Maid, which stars former artistic director and company co-founder Tina Packer. Running from Memorial Day weekend through mid-September, S & Co.’s schedule opens with The How and the Why, a new play by Sarah Treem, and also features The Unexpected Man by Yasmina Reza.

The Tanglewood Popular Artists schedule for the 2015 season is bound to attract a variety of music lovers to the B.S.O.’s summer home in the Berkshires. It runs from June 19 through August 29, from Sheryl Crow‘s concert with the Boston Pops to Idina Menzel. Also on tap are the blockbuster duo of Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga, June 30; frequent Tanglewood guest Diana Krall, June 21; Huey Lewis and the News make their Tanglewood debut June 28, the day after the annual live brioadcast of A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor. Berkshires resident and Tanglewood benefactor James Taylor returns for another Fourth of July concert, accompanied by his All Star band and followed by fireworks over Stockbridge Bowl.

It is a return engagement for Ms. Crow, who shared a bill during James Taylor’s mini-residency at Tanglewood Aug. 26 – 30, 2009. Sheryl Crow, whose hit records range from Tuesday Night Music Club in 1993 to Everyday is a Winding Road: The Collection from 2013, has won several Grammy awards and sold more than 35 million albums.

Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga at Tanglewood June 30, 2015Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga are scheduled to perform their wildly popular show, Cheek to Cheek, in the Koussevitzky Music Shed at Tanglewood on Tuesday, June 30th at 8pm. Mr. Bennett has performed here several times, including last summer in a show that featured a brief set of duets with his daughter, Antonia. It will be Ms. Gaga’s Tanglewood debut.
