Upper Goose Pond, Appalachian Trail, near Becket, MA

May 18, 2008 Article by Dave Read

Here are photos taken Sunday, May 18, 2008, during a mid-day hike along the section of the Appalachian Trail that crosses the MA turnpike near Becket and leads to Upper Goose Pond. On a cool, overcast day, the highlights of the hike included several red-spotted eastern newts (Notophthalmus viridescens), and the placid Upper Goose Pond itself, which displayed reflections of the surounding hills in stunning Impressionistic fashion. Goose Pond Reservation, a property of the Trustees of Reservations, is located at Cooper Creek Road, Lee, MA 01238. See our list of the Trustees Berkshires section.
