The Lenox Tub Parade, held Sept. 13, 2008, although held at the end of summer, trumpets the start of the Berkshires fall season. The Tub Parade is the recreation of a Gilded Age tradition, when Berkshire cottagers would dress up their horses, carriages, and wagons (“tubs”) to show off the bounty of the harvest. It is sponsored by Colonial Carriage and Driving Society, Orleton Farm, Stockbridge.
