Tanglewood schedule Labod Day weekend Aug. 31 – Sept. 2, 2012

The BSO has scheduled special programs to end the 75th anniversary season at Tanglewood, beginning with rock group Train performing on Friday, August 31, at 7 p.m. Emerging pop star Andy Grammer and Nashville-based singer/songwriter Mat Kearney will open for Train, which made its Tanglewood debut with a concert on August 8, 2011.

Labor Day weekend at Tanglewood continues with a performance in the Koussevitzky Music Shed on Sept. 1 by Evanescence, the band founded in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1995 by singer/pianist Amy Lee and guitarist Ben Moody, with Chevelle playing an opening set.

For the final event of the BSO’s 75th season at Tanglewood, which featured the 80th birthday celebration of John Williams, the Boston Pops, with Thomas Wilkins conducting, will be joined by Tony award winners Christine Ebersole and Betty Buckley, as well as five-time Grammy nominated entertainer Michael Feinstein to celebrate the Great American Songbook with selections by George and Ira Gershwin, Cole Porter, Harold Arlen, Duke Ellington, Johnny Mercer, Irving Berlin, Richard Rodgers, Lorenz Hart, and Oscar Hammerstein.
