Elvis Costello and The Imposters, with long-time Bob Dylan sideman guitarist Charlie Sexton as special guest, have been added to the Popular Artists Series at Tanglewood. Costello’s only previous appearance at Tanglewood was in 2007 as the featured guest on an episode of Marian McPartland’s Piano Jazz recorded during the Tanglewood Jazz Festival for later broadcast on NPR. At that gig, in Ozawa Hall, his very pregnant wife, Diana Krall, made a surprise appearance.
Nick Lowe and Los Straitjackets will open the concert; last year they played the same role on a bill with The Mavericks. (that show reviewed here)
Tickets to Costello’s July 1 performance will go on public sale April 6 at 10 a.m.
Tickets for the previously announced Popular Artists concerts and other performances at Tanglewood are already on sale through tanglewood.org.
