The 2016 Tanglewood schedule, running from June 25-September 3, is highlighted by Boston Symphony Orchestra programs featuring performances in the Koussevitsky Music Shed by Andris Nelsons, Emanuel Ax, Joshua Bell, Yefim Bronfman, Christoph von Dohnányi, Charles Dutoit, Renée Fleming, Paul Lewis, Yo-Yo Ma, Kristine Opolais, Dawn Upshaw, and Yuja Wang. There will be Boston Pops concerts, including one with guest artist Seth MacFarlane, with Keith Lockhart conducting, and the ever popular John Williams’ Film Night. Perhaps the newest news related to Tanglewood is that concerts of Fridays and Saturdays evenings, as well as Tanglewood On Parade, will begin at 8PM, instead of 8:30!
The Silk Road Ensemble, which was founded by Yo Yo Ma and others at Tanglewood, last appeared here in 2012, in a performance filmed by PBS: Yo Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble at Tanglewood. The next in a series of classic movies screened with live orchestral accompaniment will be ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ with Orchestra on Aug. 26; John Williams’ score performed live by the Boston Pops.
