MASS MoCA schedule

Ongoing exhibitions at MASS MoCA in North Adams include Sol LeWitt: A Wall Drawing Retrospective, 105 large-scale wall drawings that occupy nearly an acre of interior walls, installed according to LeWitt’s specifications. Sol LeWitt (1928-2007) collaborated with the Yale University Art Gallery on the conception of the exhibition, created by them, MASS MoCA, and the Williams College Museum of Art. Installation of the exhibition, which opened in November, 2007 and will run for 25 years, involved nearly six months of intensive drafting and painting by a team of some sixty-five artists and art students.

Scheduled to open May 29, 2010 at MASS MoCA is Petah Coyne: Everything That Rises Must Converge, a selection of Coyne’s recent work along with two new works. The exhibition includes selections from Coyne’s series based on Dante’s Inferno, such as Untitled #1180 (Beatrice) which transforms Dante’s love into a monumental sculpture of black wax covered flowers with the most subtle color breaking through, velvet and various taxidermy birds diving in and out of the towering form.
