Things to do in the Berkshires during November 2011 include a great variety of entertainment at venues in Berkshire county towns such as Pittsfield, Lenox, Williamstown, North Adams, and Great Barrington. Every performing arts organization with access to a big enough screen seems to have gone decidedly high brow lately with “Live” presentations of opera. If there ever was a near confluence of opera and pop, it was James Brown; his sax player, Maceo Parker, headlines Still Black Still Proud – An African Tribute to James Brown at the Mahaiwe PAC in Gt. Barrington on Nov. 18.
November in the Berkshires, just as in your family and mine, also is a time for tradition, marked on the Berkshires’ events calendar by an Arlo Guthrie concert at The Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield, and the presentation of the Fall Festival of Shakespeare, now in its 23rd year at Shakespeare and Co. in Lenox, and the Festival of Trees at the Berkshire Museum.
