James Taylor returns to Tanglewood in 2014 for concerts on the 3rd and Fourth of July, after skipping last summer in order to work on a new album. Since first performing there in 1974, James Taylor has played more than twenty concerts at Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. He moved to the Berkshires with wife Kim and twin sons Henry and Rufus in 2006 after fixing up a 100 acre property in the town of Washington, adjacent to Lenox. Washington, MA also is home to Arlo Guthrie, a friend of Taylor’s since the 1960s. Taylor’s relationship with the Berkshires dates back to 1968, when he sought treatment for heroin addiction at the Austen Riggs Center in Stockbridge. His stay there is referenced in Sweet Baby James, “…the turnpike from Stockbridge to Boston.” The 4th of July concert will be followed by the annual fireworks display over Stockbridge Bowl, Tickets will go on sale Thursday, January 16, 2014 and all proceeds for the July 4 concert will benefit Tanglewood.
