The May 2011 schedule at the Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield, Mass. includes two exhibitions that will close on May 8, 2011, and another one that will be on display through May 22, 2011. Pittsfield 250 is a collection of artworks and artifacts that are part of the celebration of Pittsfield’s 250th anniversary; Dutch and Flemish Paintings & Decorative Arts is a collection of oil paintings, including Adriaen Isenbrandt’s Flight into Egypt and Jan Victors’ Benjamin and his Brethren, as well as beautifully intricate ceramic vases and a vintage pair of children’s clogs.
MC Escher: Seeing the Unseen – Berkshire Museum – through May 22, 2011
The MC Escher exhibition at the Berkshire Museum is a world premier that includes Reptiles, Belvedere, Three Worlds, Self Portrait in Spherical Mirror, Sky and Water I, and Waterfall. It places these unforgettable images in the context of other prints—many, like the epic scrolls Metamorphosis II and Metamorphosis III, rarely on public view—in which he worked out their key ideas.
