Interfaith celebration of the Martin Luther King, Jr. national holiday will take place at the First Congregational Church in Great Barrington on Monday, January 21 at 12:00 noon. The Southern Berkshire Clergy Association, assisted by the Interfaith Committee of Southern Berkshire, is sponsoring the service for the ninth consecutive year.
This year, the interfaith service is dedicated to the memory of the Reverend Esther Dozier. Wray Gunn, Trustee Chair of the Clinton A.M.E. Zion Church, will share his reflections about the Reverend Dozier, who served as pastor of his church. She had also been an active leader in the Clergy Association’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. interfaith services.
The Reverend Kathy Duhon of the Unitarian Universalist Meeting of South Berkshire will give the sermon. Jo Allen Forte and Luci Leonard will perform voice solos and the organist will be Nancy King. Along with music, singing and interfaith prayers from a variety of clergy, there will be readings from the Reverend Jill Graham of Old Parish Church, and by Rabbi Deborah Zecher of Hevreh of Southern Berkshire. Other participants include the Reverends Charles Van Ausdall, Shawn Bracebridge, Cheryl Luft and Annie Ryder.
The public is cordially invited to attend the service at 12:00 noon and the reception at 1:00pm. Both will take place in the Parish Hall of the First Congregational Church at 251 Main Street, in Great Barrington.
