Shakespeare and Co.. in Lenox, MA presents Bad Dates, starring Elizabeth Aspenleider, to inaugurate their first winter season of theatre in the Berkshires. Written by Theresa Rebeck, Bad Dates, first presented in 2003 in New York, is about an unmarried woman raising a teen-aged daughter in Manhattan while managing a chic Manhattan restaurant that has Romanian mob connections.

Ms. Aspenleider, a 14-year veteran of Shakespeare and Co., “stole the show…” last summer in The Ladie’s Man, according to our reviewer Frances Benn Hall.

“I am loving working on this piece,” she says. “Theresa Rebeck has created a wonderfully complex and extremely funny character filled with hope, humor, compassion, and fagility—qualities we all inherently possess. And the text is incredibly rich and specific, so it’s like watching an onion being unpeeled and I can see the layers and layers of this woman while discovering these wonferfully silly moments amidst waves of heart-breaking humainity. And it has been so much fun to work with Adrianne, who has brilliant instincts and the heart of a lion—what a treat!”

Adrianne Krstansky, new to Shakespeare and Co. will direct Bad Dates, which will be presented in the new Elayne P. Bernstein Theatre January 9 through March 8, 2009 – show times are 2PM and 7PM.
